John Boyle & Associates provides short and long-term psychological services to individuals and couples seeking psychological support for improved mental health and well-being.
John Boyle & Associates sees you as a unique individual by considering your specific beliefs, values, and desires. We recognise that for some people consulting a psychologist can be challenging, therefore we strive to support you with as you engage in the therapeutic process.
Much of John Boyle's clinical work is in areas of addictive behaviours such as drug & alcohol abuse, gambling, over-eating and so on. John also has a great deal of experience in helping clients with change management, oncological and cardiac counselling, relationship counselling. He also counsels victims of crime.
John travels around Australia and New Zealand and works closely with a number of organisations such as multiple Divisions of General Practice, Amgen, BP, the Cancer Council, Merck Sharp and Dohme, the Leukaemia Foundation, the Pharmacy Guild, RACGP, RACS, RANZCP, RSA, Victorian Medical Alliance and so on in his capacity as a trainer and presenter. Fees for Psychology Services
Fees are $155 a session and are payable at the time of your appointment. We accept cash, credit card, eftpos or cheque.
Rebates
Health Rebates are provided by most health funds under their ancillary/extras tables. The rebates differ depending on your health fund and level of cover, so check with your fund for details.
Medicare now provides rebates for counselling sessions through their Better Access to Mental Health Care program. Please discuss your eligibility with your General Practitioner.
Important changes to the Medicare Benefits Schedule from 1 November 2011
From 1 November 2011 the number of services a person can receive from a psychologist per calendar year has been capped at 10 sessions and the provision for additional sessions under exceptional circumstances has been removed. These changes apply to clients who are already receiving treatment as well as new clients. To read more about the changes to the Better Access session allowances, click here.

Information About Our Cancellation Policy
When you make an appointment we reserve the whole hour for you. We require 24 hours notice for cancellation of a session. This is to allow the time to offer the appointment to another client who may be on a cancellation list waiting for an appointment. The full fee will be charged for non-attendance or less than 24 hours notice of cancellation. Please note that we do reluctantly use debt collection services for unpaid invoices.
Access to Allied Psychological Services
John is registered with Southcity and Monash Divisions of General Practice. GPs practicing in these catchment areas can refer their patients to John under this scheme. Patients referred under this scheme do not incur any out of pocket costs.
Better Access to Mental Health Scheme
GPs can refer their patients to John under this scheme using MBS item 2702 or 2710.
